Residents around Mt Gravatt may see smoke this weekend, with a planned burn scheduled at Griffith University’s Mt Gravatt campus.
The burn is planned for Saturday, 8 August from 10am, subject to suitable weather and site conditions.
Councillor Steve Griffiths said traffic control would be in place along Messines Ridge Road, from the university entrance to the upper roundabout.
Crews will patrol the site and remain onsite until it is considered safe, while wildlife and fauna spotter-catchers will also be available during the operation.
Smoke may be visible in surrounding areas.

Burn Area Near Toohey Forest
A map released with the notice shows the proposed burn area covering bushland on the western and northern side of the Mt Gravatt campus, near Messines Ridge Road and adjoining the broader Toohey Forest area.
The operation is a Griffith University planned burn, rather than a Brisbane City Council burn.
Planned burns can be used to reduce vegetation and other fuel that could contribute to bushfire intensity, as well as for ecological and land-management purposes.
Brisbane City Council also conducts planned burns across its bushland reserves, generally between February and August.
