The countdown is almost over for one of Brisbane’s longest-running community events, with the 110th annual Mt Gravatt Show set to deliver a weekend packed with entertainment, competitions, and country show traditions.

Running on Saturday, 25 July from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, 26 July from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Mt Gravatt Showgrounds, 1644 Logan Road, this year’s event celebrates more than a century of community involvement while offering attractions for visitors of all ages.
A Weekend Packed With Entertainment
The 2026 program blends long-standing agricultural traditions with modern family entertainment. Visitors can watch the FMX Kaos International Freestyle Team perform freestyle motocross stunt displays, enjoy Saturday night’s fireworks, meet animals in the nursery and wildlife encounter areas, browse market stalls and food vendors, and experience amusement rides throughout the weekend.

Families will also have the chance to see Paw Patrol characters on 26 July, while live music and other performances will run across the showgrounds.
Away from the main entertainment, the show remains firmly rooted in competition. This year’s program includes 21 competition categories spanning agriculture, horticulture, livestock and creative arts. Entries range from cattle and show jumping to cooking, Lego, arts and crafts, reflecting the broad mix of interests that has long been part of the event.

A Community Event Built by Volunteers
Behind the rides and entertainment is an event that continues to rely heavily on community participation.
The Mt Gravatt Show Society says the show has endured for more than 110 years because of the ongoing support of volunteers, exhibitors, competitors, sponsors and local partners. Society president Justin Rosenberg said the event continues to showcase community spirit, local talent and agricultural traditions while evolving to provide new experiences for today’s families. He also acknowledged the many people whose contributions have helped keep the show running across generations, describing it as an event that belongs to the community and continues because of that support.
The showgrounds also host other major events throughout the year, including the Mt Gravatt Rodeo, which is scheduled to return on Saturday, 12 September.
More Than a Century of Local History
The Mt Gravatt Show traces its beginnings to 1915, when the first event was held in James Paddock behind the Mount Gravatt Hotel and alongside Mt Gravatt State School.
Within a few years, the growing event relocated to what is now the Mt Gravatt Showgrounds after land was acquired for a permanent home. Historical records from the Mt Gravatt Show Society note that the first show at the current site took place in 1918 on land purchased from Robert Grieve, with additional adjoining land temporarily provided for the event. The society itself was established shortly after the First World War and has continued to develop the show ever since.
Over the decades, the annual show has become a fixture on Brisbane’s community calendar, preserving agricultural traditions while adapting to changing interests and expectations. Livestock competitions now sit alongside stunt performances, family attractions and creative exhibits, helping introduce new generations to an event that has been held for more than 110 years.

As preparations enter their final days, organisers are inviting residents from Mount Gravatt and surrounding suburbs to be part of another chapter in the show’s history.
