Rate Money Mount Gravatt Branch Opens With Focus On Self-Employed Borrowers

A new lending branch has opened in Mount Gravatt, where Ruchir Kakkar will work with self-employed borrowers and build connections with local financial and property professionals.

Non-bank lender Rate Money opened the branch on 24 July 2026, extending its Queensland presence while establishing another local operation focused on people who work for themselves.

Local Connections At Mount Gravatt Branch

Kakkar recently joined Rate Money as Branch Principal and will lead the Mount Gravatt branch.

Alongside lending services for self-employed customers, the branch will work with local accountants, financial advisers, real estate professionals and business consultants.

For Kakkar, the move to Queensland is a fresh start. His plans include developing relationships in the area, broadening his professional network and working with business owners on their lending needs.

The local focus aligns with Rate Money’s broader specialisation in loans for self-employed Australians. The company was established in 2019 by mortgage professionals Ryan Gair, Glenn Maynard and Luke Sheales to provide home loan options for this group of borrowers.

Queensland Network Expands

The Mount Gravatt opening forms part of Rate Money’s continuing expansion in Queensland and across Australia.

Chief executive Ryan Gair has identified Queensland’s population and business growth as factors behind the company’s decision to expand its presence in the state, particularly for lending services aimed at self-employed customers.

Rate Money now operates branches across several states, including New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia, and has also entered Western Australia.

The company says more than 15,000 self-employed Australians have accessed over $10 billion in financing through Rate Money since it began operating.

While the lender is continuing to increase its national branch network, the Mount Gravatt operation will concentrate on establishing local relationships with borrowers and professionals working across finance, property and business services.

Kakkar will lead that work as the branch develops its network in Mount Gravatt and the surrounding professional community.
